Kyoto

Kyoto is the cultural capital of the country. It was the political and traditional center of Japan before the Tokugawa clan took hold of the nation and transferred the capital to Tokyo. A large part of Kyoto still embraces its traditional roots and has become a tourist hot spot to travel back in time and walk through ancient Japan. It is common to see tourists and locals wear Kimonos, Japan’s traditional outfit, while walking around the city.

I have been to Kyoto multiple times, and each time I always tell myself that the time spent there isn’t enough. Unlike Tokyo, it is more convenient to take the Bus instead of the trains when exploring Kyoto. I recommend getting a Kyoto Bus Pass when touring around so you can get unlimited rides on most bus routes. It is also wise to plan your day by clumping together tourist spots close to one another. There is really just that many things to do in Kyoto, especially if you’re a fan of Japanese temples!
